History of Bangkok Airways

Mr. Prasert Prasarttong-Osoth founded Bangkok Airways. He started the airline business in 1968. It was a division of Krungthep Sahakol Company Limited, a business he owned.

He established Sahakol Air in 1984. To take over the airline business that Krungthep Sahakol had been running from the start. Later, the airline’s name was “Bangkok Airways.”

Bangkok Airways runs flights on the Bangkok-Koh Samui route. It received an International Air Transport Association (IATA) code. The code is “PG,” which allowed operations at Samui Airport to begin.

Bangkok Airways added a 107-seat Fokker 100 jet airplane to the fleet in 1992. Two years later, the fleet grew by two more Aplanecraft when it joined IATA Clearing House. The second airport undertaking that started in 1998 was Sukhothai Airport.
